The McKell Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Hannah MacLeod as the Executive Director for its South Australia and Northern Territory Branch. In this role, Ms MacLeod will lead the Institute’s efforts to develop policy solutions tailored to the challenges and opportunities in both regions.
Ms MacLeod brings extensive experience in communications and policy development. Most recently, she worked at strategic communications consultancy SEC Newgate Australia, focusing on the South Australian and Northern Territory markets.
Her career also includes advisory roles in government – having worked for former Shadow Minister for Education and Early Childhood Kate Ellis, former Northern Territory Chief Minister, Michael Gunner, and earlier in her career with then SDA SA/NT Secretary, now South Australian Premier, Peter Malinauskas.
Edward Cavanough, National CEO of the McKell Institute, said:
“Hannah’s deep understanding of South Australia and Northern Territory’s political landscapes and her extensive network within the public and private sectors position her to drive the McKell Institute’s mission in these regions.”
“We are confident that her leadership will significantly advance our commitment to delivering evidence-based policy solutions that address the distinct issues facing these two jurisdictions.”
Established in 2011, the McKell Institute is a progressive research organisation dedicated to providing practical and innovative solutions to contemporary policy challenges. With branches across Australia, including the recently established South Australia/Northern Territory Branch in 2024, the Institute engages with leading academics, industry experts, and policymakers to influence positive change.
Ms MacLeod’s appointment reflects the McKell Institute’s focus on strengthening its presence nationally, ensuring that policy development is informed by local insights and tailored to regional needs.
