A Lifeline to More Support

Victoria’s mental healthcare system is under strain.

The state government has committed to overhauling the mental healthcare system over ten years, following a landmark Royal Commission that concluded in 2021.

However, this process has already slowed because of statewide workforce pressures and tough budgeting.

This report makes a case for the Victorian Government to partner with Lifeline Australia, already a trusted name in crisis mental health, to find practical solutions for immediate need.

Lifeline already operates across eight centres in Victoria and is a registered training organisation, and is well-placed to partner with government, particularly in the regional areas where the lack of trained mental healthcare workers is hardest felt.
